    By including Family Promise of Ontario County in your estate plan, you can help us carry our  mission into the future for generations to come.

    A bequest can be funded with cash, securities, or other assets, and you can arrange for Family Promise of Ontario County (FPOC) to receive a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a residual balance. You can make changes to your bequest at any time, and your assets remain in your control during your lifetime. FPOC receives the gift only when your estate is distributed. Charitable bequests are deductible against the value of your estate and may reduce the amount of federal estate tax owed.

  • Donating appreciated publicly traded securities that you have held for longer than 12 months may allow you to claim a charitable deduction for the full market value of the securities on the date the gift is made while avoiding tax on the capital gain; please consult your personal tax advisor for advice.

  • A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple, tax-efficient way to support Family Promise. It allows you to recommend charitable grants from an account you’ve set up with a sponsoring organization—such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or a community foundation.

    To make a gift to Family Promise of Ontario County from your DAF, contact your DAF sponsoring organization—the entity that manages your fund—and provide them with the following information:

    Important Notes:

    • DAF grants cannot be used to fulfill a personal pledge.

    • Donors may not receive goods or services in exchange for a DAF grant.

    • We encourage you to consult your sponsoring organization or tax advisor with any questions about your gift.

  • If you're 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA to support Family Promise of Ontario County.

    A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified nonprofit like ours. These gifts can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may offer tax advantages, as the amount donated is excluded from your taxable income.

    To make a QCD, contact your IRA custodian (the financial institution that manages your IRA) and provide them with the following information:

    Important Notes:

    • QCDs must be made directly from your IRA to Family Promise of Ontario County, Inc. to qualify for tax benefits.

    • The gift must be completed by December 31 to count toward the current tax year’s RMD.

    • You may contribute up to $108,000 in 2025 via QCDs (limit adjusted annually for inflation).

    We recommend consulting your tax advisor or financial institution to confirm eligibility and ensure your gift is processed correctly.

  • Honor someone special or remember a loved one by making a gift in their name. Your donation will not only celebrate their life or legacy—it will help provide shelter, stability, and hope to families in need.

    If you make an honorary or memorial gift, please contact fpocbookkeeper@fpocny.org to share the details.

    • Your name and the amount of your donation

    • Whether the gift is in honor or in memory of someone

    • The name of the individual being honored or remembered

    • The names and mailing addresses of anyone we should notify of your honorary/memorial gift.

  • Matching gifts can double, and sometimes triple, the impact of your gift. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees.
