John Treahy

President and CEO at Treahy Consultation Services LLC

Program Committee Chair

A lifelong advocate for children and families, John Treahy has spent his career in nonprofit leadership. A Canandaigua native, he graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1969 before earning degrees from Gannon University and the University of Rochester.

John dedicated nearly three decades to Hillside Children’s Center, later serving as Executive Director of Kids Peace New York and CEO of a nonprofit in Elmira, NY. After retiring in 2016, he founded Treahy Consultation Services LLC, where he specializes in nonprofit program development, employee training on childhood trauma, and organizational change. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Finger Lakes Community College, Keuka College, and Monroe Community College.

John joined the Family Promise Board in 2024, bringing a deep belief that stable housing is a fundamental right and that its absence has profound effects on families. He is also a board member at Mary Cariola and has previously served on the boards of Villa of Hope, the Council of Families and Child Care Organizations, and the Ontario County Youth Bureau.

In his free time, John enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife, Christine, their children, and three grandchildren.
