From Vision to Reality - Thank You for Your Support

As we are preparing to officially welcome our first family to the Shill Family Center, we wanted to take time out to extend our sincere gratitude. We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible support, encouragement, and media coverage surrounding this project. Over the last several weeks, local news outlets have shared the story of what this shelter means for families in our community, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped shine a light on the growing need for family shelter services in Ontario County.

Many of the recent articles have highlighted an important fact: the Shill Family Center will become Ontario County’s first dedicated emergency shelter for families with children.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible partnership and generosity of the Molly & Ed Shill Cares Foundation. From the very beginning, they believed in the vision of creating a place where families could stay together, feel safe, and begin rebuilding their futures. Their support helped transform what was once a dream into a reality that will soon serve families across our county. The foundation’s commitment to addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable families has been instrumental in getting us to this point.

We also want to recognize that this project has truly been a community effort. Local leaders, volunteers, donors, contractors, staff, community partners, and supporters have all played a role in helping us move closer to opening day. Every contribution, whether financial, in-kind, or through advocacy and encouragement, has mattered.

While we are celebrating how far we’ve come, our work is not finished. Our Sheltering Families, Building Futures Capital Campaign is still ongoing as we continue raising funds for furnishings, operational support, and future sustainability for the shelter. Current campaign efforts are helping ensure that families not only have a safe place to stay, but also access to the resources and support needed to achieve stable housing.

As a nonprofit organization, we know that meaningful change only happens through partnership. We are incredibly thankful for the community that has rallied around this project, believed in our mission, and helped us reach this milestone. We truly would not be opening our doors without the support of those who walked alongside us every step of the way.

We invite everyone to continue following our journey as we prepare to welcome families into the Shill Family Center. To read more of the wonderful news stories and updates that have been shared throughout this process, please visit the Press section of Family Promise of Ontario County.
